Join us for a dynamic “grand rounds” session where a real-world case is presented by an AAMA colleague. A panel of experienced medical acupuncturists will discuss possible acupuncture approaches and strategies for the case. From simple to complex cases, the panelists will offer insights into developing strategies based on diagnostic considerations and how to work through developing a framework for treatment. This session will encourage audience engagement through Q&A and collaborative reasoning approaches.

Dr. Stephen Godar is board certified in Medical Acupuncture, Internal Medicine, and Pediatrics. He currently works half time as an adult hospitalist and he has an outpatient medical acupuncture practice at Eagle Valley Medical Acupuncture in Gypsum, CO.
Dr. Michael Freedman is a graduate of Baylor College of Medicine in 1981 where he also completed a Neurology residency program in 1986. He served as a United States Navy Reserve Medical Officer from 2003-2018; during most of those years he was attached to the 4th Marine Division. Dr. Freedman completed the HMI course in 2015 and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Medical Acupuncture and a Fellow of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture. Currently he is employed by the VA at the Greenville NC VA Health Care Center.
Dr. Norman Zavela is a board-certified anesthesiologist who completed the HMI course in 1996 and was board certified in 1999. Dr. Zavela has his own clinic and is willing to treat most anything that comes through the door. He has been practicing acupuncture for about 28 years. Dr. Zavela became a Fellow of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture after publishing a paper on the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome in the Medical Acupuncture journal (Vol. 22, No 4 (December) 2010; pp 273-276). He currently serves on the Medical Education Committee for the AAMA.
