Pre-Symposium 3 – “Acupuncture as an Adjunctive Therapy in Post-Concussion Syndrome” Presented by: Ayla Wolf, DAOM, LAc

Dr. Wolf is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine specializing in neurological disorders, concussions and traumatic brain injuries.  She is a faculty member of the Carrick Institute of Clinical Neuroscience and Rehabilitation, and teaches doctoral program courses in neurology as an adjunct faculty of the AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine, and American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She is an international speaker and educator on functional neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, neurological exam techniques, and neuro-rehabilitation utilizing acupuncture and Chinese medicine. She also teaches advanced courses on the management of patients with concussions and TBI. She owns a private practice in Stillwater, MN.

Description
Patients suffering from on-going post-concussion syndrome can have widely different clinical presentations. Research suggests a multi-disciplinary approach addressing the individual patient’s unique presentation is the key to success. This lecture explores the areas in which acupuncture can be used as an adjunctive therapy. We will cover acupuncture treatment strategies that address mood disorders such as depression and anxiety, sleep disorders, chronic pain, post-traumatic headaches, oculomotor dysfunction, dizziness, and vertigo.
