Overview
During this brief 1-hour webinar Dr. Zavela will go over how to use acupuncture to treat carpal tunnel syndrome.
Description
This presentation will provide treatment options from an acupuncture perspective for a patient with carpal tunnel syndrome after a review of the anatomy of the arm including the nerve pathways. Carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms and other treatment options will also be presented. Acupuncture meridians and points will be presented in relation to various acupuncture approaches.
Learning objectives
At the conclusion of this LIVE webcast physician participants will be able to:
- Identify the neuroanatomy of the arm and wrist.
- Describe carpal tunnel symptoms and identify patients who best will respond to acupuncture.
- Demonstrate the meridians and acupoints related to treating carpal tunnel syndrome.
- Create a treatment plan specific to individual patients.
Norman Zavela, MD, FAAMA
Dr. Norman Zavela is a board-certified anesthesiologist who completed the Helms course in 1996 and was board certified in 1999. Dr. Zavela has his own clinic and is willing to treat most anything that comes through the door. He has been practicing acupuncture for about 28 years. Dr. Zavela became a Fellow of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture after publishing a paper on the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome in the Medical Acupuncture journal (Vol. 22, No 4 (December) 2010; pp 273-276). He currently serves on the Medical Education Committee for the AAMA.
