Description
The basis of Auriculotherapy was theorized by Doctor Paul Nogier in France in 1957. Attendees will be introduced to the history and development of auriculotherapy in France and in the world since this time. Its specificity compared to acupuncture will be explained. Possible mechanisms of action, and clinical utilization of auriculotherapy will be presented based on scientific publications. The implementation of auriculotherapy as a complementary technique, in a vision of integrative medicine, will be highlighted with a focus on chronic pain, perioperative management and supportive care in cancer.
Learning objectives
At the conclusion of this LIVE webcast physician participants will be able to:
- Compare the differences and resemblances between auriculotherapy and acupuncture.
- Identify opportunities to employ auriculotherapy in pain treatment, perioperative management and supportive care in cancer.
- Discuss the clinical use of 3 basics protocols in these fields.
Mireille Michel-Cherqui, MD
Dr. Michel-Cherqui is an anesthesiologist who has worked for several years in cardiothoracic surgery before specializing in pain management and complementary therapies. She developed expertise in auriculotherapy since 2009 and has largely integrated it into her practice. Her main academic and clinical interests are chronic pain, perioperative management and supportive care in cancer. She has published several papers in the area of integrative medicine and is in charge of academic teaching for auriculotherapy in France.
