SUMMARY:38th ICMART World Congress of Medical Acupuncture
DESCRIPTION:38 th ICMART World Congress (November 7-9\, 2025) organized by the French Acupuncture Federation fOr Research and MEdical Care (FAFORMEC) with the support of our Belgian and Swiss neighbours and friends (ABMA & ASA) as well as French midwives. The theme : “Cure\, Care\, Evidences\, Teaching and Research”. \nFrance\, fertile land of Acupuncture : beginnings in the first half of 19th century\, Louis Berlioz (father of Hector Berlioz\, the famous musician)\, Jean-Baptiste Sarlandière (electroacupuncture\,1825)\, Alfred Velpeau (inventor of the tape for bandage)\, Jules Cloquet\,1826\, … but these early beginnings collapsed by lack of real masters\, approximate translations of Asian books concerning that field and some unsuccessful experiences. After enthusiasm came doubt and fear. Acupuncture kept a negative connotation until the thirties of the 20 th century.  This is the moment when the real traditional\, medical and scientific acupuncture arose with Soulié de Morant “Précis of the True Acupuncture”\,1934. His main book 鍼灸法\, “Chinese Acupuncture”\, published in 1957\, includes an Atlas of the acupuncture points and meridians designed on “écorchés”. From France\, acupuncture spread to other western European countries. The success of acupuncture in Europe participated to stop the decline of the Chinese traditional medicine in its mother country\, China (Dr Fang Zun-ngen\, Shanghai\,1937). \nKEYNOTE SPEAKERS: \nNadia Volf \nThomas Burgoon \nMichael Freedman \nLisa Taylor-Swanson \nLoreenz Fischer \nMarc Petitpierre \nXavier Capdevila \nGregory Ninot \nKeiko Ogawa \nBau-Yan Liu \nDominic Irnich \nChin Chan

SUMMARY:Introduction to Korean Hand Therapy (KHT) - A Correspondence Microsystem for Patients and Practitioners Webinar
DESCRIPTION:PART ONE of the Korean Hand Therapy Essentials: A Three-Part Introduction for Patient Care and Practitioner Wellness Webinar Series \nPresented by Barbara de la Torre\, MD\, FAAMA \nKorean Hand Therapy represents one of the most clinically practical microsystems available to medical acupuncturists\, offering immediate applications for both clinical practice and self-care. This foundational webinar introduces core KHT principles and provides an overview of correspondence therapy. Participants will explore the historical development of KHT by Dr. Tae Woo Yoo\, and experience firsthand how correspondence therapy can enhance their current practice. \nA portion of this session focuses on self-care applications\, with live demonstrations of techniques that practitioners can use for their own health maintenance. Select clinical cases will illustrate KHT’s potential\, while discussion of current research highlights opportunities for evidence-based integration. This session provides a taste of what comprehensive KHT training offers\, focusing on immediately applicable techniques for both patient care and practitioner wellness. \nObjectives:\n1. Identify the fundamental principles of KHT correspondence therapy and their clinical applications\n2. Demonstrate basic KHT self-care techniques for practitioner health maintenance\n3. Analyze available research on KHT and recognize opportunities for further\ninvestigation\n4. Apply basic KHT techniques to enhance current medical acupuncture practice

SUMMARY:Applied Kinesiology Manual Muscle Testing Comes Alive!
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Presented by Jay Sandweiss\, DO\, FAAMA \nLEARN MORE \nApplied Kinesiology is a unique system of diagnosis and treatment that utilizes manual muscle testing to determine the underlying factors responsible for somatic dysfunctions. Each muscle in the body has been correlated with a specific organ or gland\, acupuncture meridian\, Chapman’s reflex\, Bennett’s reflex\, nutritional need\, cranial stress receptor\, or other significant treatment modality. A protocol is taught that systematically seeks out the specific therapies needed by the patient to achieve a healing response. Applied Kinesiology began over 60 years ago and has continued to evolve as a powerful force in the healing arts. The founder\, Dr. George Goodheart\, Jr.\, expanded upon classic viscero-somatic concepts to include the major muscles of the body in addition to traditional neuro-anatomical spinal-level relationships. \nThe benefits of learning Applied Kinesiology are numerous. First\, students learn to artfully test all of the major muscle groups in the body. This helps find specific inhibition patterns underlying patient complaints (e.g. shoulder\, knee and back complaints). On the more advanced level\, the Applied Kinesiologist acquires a powerful algorithm for working through patient presentations. This algorithm integrates novel concepts of holographic neurology with the treatment techniques of numerous other healing arts. Applied Kinesiology is quite helpful in working with chronic and recurrent somatic dysfunctions. \nCourse Content Summary:\n• Principles and applications of Applied Kinesiology\n• Artful muscle testing of numerous muscle groups throughout the body\n• Therapy localization techniques\n• Lymphatic and circulatory enhancement technique (Chapman/Bennett reflexes)\n• Left brain / Right brain challenging\n• Emotional Stress testing\n• Reactive muscle patterns\n• Vertebral and soft tissue challenging\n• Spinal Fixation Syndrome causing bilateral weakness patterns\n• Aerobic-Anaerobic testing and correction\n• Strain/Counterstrain: Applied Kinesiology Screening test\n• Ligament Stretch Adrenal muscle testing for Adrenal Burn-Out\n• Myofascial Stretch muscle testing to find fascial sheath shortening\n• Screening TMJ and Cranial Dysfunctions with Muscle testing\n• Screening for Vertical Heterophoria and other vision disorders\n• Soft tissue techniques to strengthen muscles using muscle spindle cells and origininsertion/golgi tendon reset approaches\n• PRYT (Pitch\, Roll\, Yaw\, Tilt)\n• Gait Testing with simultaneous muscle testing of contralateral limbs

SUMMARY:Auricular Trauma Protocol (ATP) for Extraordinary Stress and Its Psychologic and Somatic Manifestations Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Mitch Elkiss\, DO\, FAAMA \nTopic: ATP for stress\, sleep\, pain\, dependency. \nThe Auricular Trauma Protocol\, at the request of the Department of Defense\, was created in 2010 for treating PTSD in the military. It was found to be successful in helping wounded warriors cope with their stress\, pains\, sleeplessness\, and drug dependencies. It was tested in Afghanistan\, the Intrepid Center in Bethesda\, and at the Nellis AFB family medicine clinic. There is evidence of its benefits that will be presented. In 2012\, the military approached us about developing advanced strategies for treating stress issues\, pain management concerns\, sleep disturbances\, and drug dependencies. Thus\, was created the Basic I and Basic II patterns. They are based on the foundational ATP with added points for personalization of treatment. \nThe origins\, logic\, and clinical utilization of the ATP and its Basic I and Basic II derivatives in the treatment of patients will be discussed in depth. The focus will be on patients with problems related to Stress\, Pain\, Sleep\, and/or Dependency. \nObjectives: \nAt the end of this activity\, participant will be able to – \n\nIdentify the names and locations of the points used in the Auricular Trauma Protocol\nExplain the logic of the Auricular Trauma Protocol\nDiscuss the clinical use of the Basic I and Basic II derivatives of the Auricular Trauma Protocol

SUMMARY:Applied Kinesiology: Manual Muscle Testing Comes Alive!
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Jay Sandweiss\, DO\, FAAMA \nApplied Kinesiology is a unique system of diagnosis and treatment that utilizes manual muscle testing to determine the underlying factors responsible for somatic dysfunctions. \nApplied Kinesiology began over 60 years ago and has continued to evolve as a powerful force in the healing arts. The founder\, Dr. George Goodheart\, Jr.\, has expanded upon the viscero-somatic concept to include the major muscles of the body in addition to the traditional spinal-level relationships. \nThe benefits of learning Applied Kinesiology are many. One learns to artfully test all the major muscle groups in the body. This helps us find the exact weakness pattern underlying a patient complaint (e.g. shoulder\, knee or back complaint). On the more advanced level\, the Applied Kinesiologist acquires a powerful algorithm for working throughpatient problems. This algorithm integrates novel concepts of holographic neurology with the treatment techniques of numerous other healing arts. Applied Kinesiology is quite helpful in working with chronic and recurrent somatic dysfunctions. \n\nIncludes 2-day course\, extensive course handout\, food\, and CEU credits for physical Therapists

SUMMARY:East-West Intersections of the Extraordinary Vessels
DESCRIPTION:Presented by David Miller\, MD\, Lac \nFar from being esoteric and inaccessible\, the Eight Extraordinary Vessels encompass the elegance of the human reproductive system.  They describe how this creates the basis for family and culture\, and reveal aspects of personality that we encounter every day. Evolutionary Biology presents a phenomenal lens through which to understand the Chinese physiologic systems.  While many concepts in Chinese theory appear to be esoteric and ungrounded in juxtaposition to current understandings of human physiology\, shifting our focus to consider the systems in the evolutionary paradigm corrects this. This talk will explore the integrative physiology of East-West views on mating and reproduction\, focusing on the Extraordinary vessels.  These vessels play a role not only in fertility\, but also form the foundations of who we are as individuals and sexual beings.  Understanding their breadth and scope will enrich practice and increase appreciation of the profundity of their use clinically.  Through clarity as to their domains of action\, we can better treat our patients for optimal outcomes. \nOBJECTIVES:\n\n\n Understand the Extraordinary Vessels as they pertain to human growth and development as well as to our reproductive roles \n\n\n\n\nIdentify key neurologic concepts that form the basis for somatotopic mapping in relation to the Extraordinary Vessels \n\n\nRecognize the evolutionary persistence of systems presented

SUMMARY:Annual Symposium
DESCRIPTION:The Annual Symposium is an educational meeting for health care professionals interested in\, or already practicing acupuncture. Medical practitioners with no experience as well as those with extensive backgrounds in acupuncture will find the program useful to their medical practices. \nThis symposium will present multi-faceted approaches for understanding\, appreciating\, and applying acupuncture in today’s practice. It will expand awareness of the scientific research into the effects of acupuncture\, while enhancing understandings of classical wisdom.  It will help clinicians apply the medicine both towards direct patient care\, and in overcoming care delivery challenges.
