SUMMARY:38th ICMART World Congress of Medical Acupuncture
DESCRIPTION:38 th ICMART World Congress (November 7-9\, 2025) organized by the French Acupuncture Federation fOr Research and MEdical Care (FAFORMEC) with the support of our Belgian and Swiss neighbours and friends (ABMA & ASA) as well as French midwives. The theme : “Cure\, Care\, Evidences\, Teaching and Research”. \nFrance\, fertile land of Acupuncture : beginnings in the first half of 19th century\, Louis Berlioz (father of Hector Berlioz\, the famous musician)\, Jean-Baptiste Sarlandière (electroacupuncture\,1825)\, Alfred Velpeau (inventor of the tape for bandage)\, Jules Cloquet\,1826\, … but these early beginnings collapsed by lack of real masters\, approximate translations of Asian books concerning that field and some unsuccessful experiences. After enthusiasm came doubt and fear. Acupuncture kept a negative connotation until the thirties of the 20 th century.  This is the moment when the real traditional\, medical and scientific acupuncture arose with Soulié de Morant “Précis of the True Acupuncture”\,1934. His main book 鍼灸法\, “Chinese Acupuncture”\, published in 1957\, includes an Atlas of the acupuncture points and meridians designed on “écorchés”. From France\, acupuncture spread to other western European countries. They are a great opportunity to get the newest developments on scientific acupuncture\, related techniques\, research and clinical practice. \nThis year we continue with great keynote lectures\, workshops and clinical cases from outstanding speakers who will join the congress. We also promote lectures in small groups so people will have the chance to get in touch. \nThere will be three plenary sessions to welcome keynote lectures\, forums\, awards and ICMART General Assembly. \nSix thematic sessions\, six workshops\, poster presentations and special sessions will take place in 4 different rooms for 3 days and will cover all important topics on acupuncture. \nThis is an in-person event!

Medical practitioners with no experience as well as those with extensive backgrounds in acupuncture will find the program useful to their medical practices. \nThis symposium will present multi-faceted approaches for understanding\, appreciating\, and applying acupuncture in today’s practice. It will expand awareness of the scientific research into the effects of acupuncture\, while enhancing understandings of classical wisdom.  It will help clinicians apply the medicine both towards direct patient care\, and in overcoming care delivery challenges.

The systems are rooted in the concept of healing the body by balancing channels. Students will learn the history of the Balance Method/System\, the basis of the systems\, and the logical processes for determining the meridians to acupuncture\, including an easy-to-use format to outline the treatment plan. A detailed explanation of the Mirroring and Imaging Formats will also be explained to assist participants in effective point selection. Dr. Tan will show how to use distal points in order to avoid aggravating the area of discomfort and will include demonstrations. Particular attention will be paid to musculo-skeletal conditions in this introductory level. \nLearning Objectives\nAt the end of this workshop\, attendees will be able to: \n\nContextualize the Balance Method/System within the history of the acupuncture field.\nOutline the development of two or three of the six systems/strategies.\nIdentify the name and numbers of two or three of the six systems/strategies and describe how each\nbalances a meridian.\nApply a mirror and imaging concept to choose the acupuncture points on the body.\nLocate specific acupuncture points within the Balance System.\nOutline and follow the steps used in the Balance System to diagnose and treat health conditions.\nDiagnose which meridians are sick and apply a treatment plan.
