INTERSECTIONS: Receives energy from LR at CV 2; energy from three yin of legs at CV 3; energy from KI and Tchong Mo at CV 7; energy from SP, LR at CV 10; energy from five Zang, MH at CV 17; energy from Yin Oe at CV 22, CV23

LOCATION: In the center of the perineum, between the anus and the scrotum in the male or the anus and the posterior labial commissure in the female.

NEEDLING METHOD: Perpendicularly 0.5-1.0 inch.

REMARKS: Intersections of CV, GV, Tchong Mo and ascending yin (LR, KI, SP); can bring energy to pelvic cavity by using with Tchong Mo and Bl K distinct [?] meridian with focus at lower sacral points. LR 9 with T. Mo for genital problems. [?]

ANATOMY:

MODERN FUNCTION: To energize, resusitation for drowning, hemorrhoids, uterine fibroids, prolapsed uterus, herpes, scrotal and penile pain, prostate (to the hilt)

REMARKS: Reunion of three tendino-muscular yin meridians of leg, also intersection with LI, Yin Keo, and ST tendino-muscular meridian.

ANATOMY:

MODERN FUNCTION: Good for pelvic, GU problems, amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, dysuria, polyuria, abdominal swelling.

CV3 ZHONGJI

REMARKS: Alternate reunion point of the three yin TMs of the leg. Also meeting point of the 3 yin meridians of the leg. Is the BL Mo Pt [repetition ?]

ANATOMY:

MODERN FUNCTION: Abdominal swelling, pelvic problems, GU problems, lower abdominal pain, frilosite, nondescending placenta.

REMARKS: Alternate reunion point for the three TM meridians of the leg; SI MO Pt, Tchong Mo goes through this point and it is a good activating point for Tchong Mo.

ANATOMY:

MODERN FUNCTION: infertility, diarrhea, prolapse, dysmenorrhea, four extremities cold hypotension; promotes health. In modern texts there is a contra-indication in pregnancy.

CLASSICAL FUNCTION: moves Yang energy, regulates Blood, strengthens KI, tonifies Qi; strengthening energy, especially of MH and TH.

CV5 SHIMEN
(Stone Door, Elixir of Long Life **)

LOCATION: 2 cun below the umbilicus or alternatively 1/2 the way between umbilicus and symphasis pubis. Mussat finds it by feeling for it at the first fold below the umbilicus, generally at the beltline.

NEEDLING METHOD: Perpendicularly 1.5-2.0 inches.

REMARKS: Mo Pt of TH and command point for lower Jiao. Energy of Bladder mounts here. A point to tonify and not disperse.

ANATOMY:

MODERN FUNCTION: Regulates lower heater and helps resolve edema secondary to water retention.

CV6 QIHAI
(Sea of Qi, Primordial Qi *1/2)

LOCATION: 1.5 cun below the umbilicus or alternately 2/3 of the way from the symphasis pubis to the umbilicus.

NEEDLING METHOD: Perpendicularly 1.0-2.0 inches. It is advisable to apply moxibustion on this point for asthenic patients.

REMARKS: A strong point for stimulating Chi. Would be a good point to stimulate prior to abdominal surgery. Connects with ST 25 and KI 3.

ANATOMY:

FUNCTION: fatigue, asthenia, depression, frilosite; functions overlap with CV 4 and CV 5. Can increase energy of five Zang organs; good in general for lower abdominal and urinary dysfunctions. May be used with moxa along with CV 8 for constipation caused by an LI deficiency.

LOCATION: 1 cun below umbilicus or alternately 5/6 of the distance between symphisis pubis and umbilicus.

NEEDLING METHOD: Perpendicularly 1.0-2.0 inches.

REMARKS: Intersection with KI, Tchong Mo, GV. Rarely used Mo Pt for Middle Heater. More likely is used as alternative Mo Pt for Lower Heater.

ANATOMY:

FUNCTION: nervous disorder, madness. GU disorders, ureter pain, adjunct for sterility.

FUNCTION: Concentration of SP energy; can stimulate here for problems in Fu; off-center or ungrounded, increases ST and SP functions, anorexia, dispels damp, can be helpful with diarrhea or any GI symptoms. [?]

FUNCTION: Home base for any respiratory problem, asthma, cough, tight neck and shoulder, insufficient lactation.

REMARKS: Receives from Yin Oe and where Yin and Yang energies meet. Window of the Sky Pt, and point to use when focusing on thyroid and breast problems. A point on Tschong Mo.

FUNCTION: Thoracic and abdominal problems, cough, asthma, chest oppression, energy rushing to head, stroke.

NEEDLING METHOD: Perpendicularly 1.0-1.5 inches.

REMARKS: Home base for low back pain that doesn't radiate down the legs. The 36th difficult issue in the Nan-jing states " The kidney on the rigHT is the gate of life....where the spirit essence (shen-jing) lodges; it is the place to which the original influences are tied." Ming men may be considered synonymous with the dantian or lower cinnabar field found in spiritual alchemy. Here, the original and authentic yin and yang, as endowed by heaven reside. One authenic (zhen) water and fire reside here...hence the image from internal alchemy of stoking the furnace of the dantian, to burn off the refuse of acquired conditioning and return original nature.

FUNCTION: Any reproductive or urinary problem. To activate Kid energy can be used in association with Bl23 and GB25.

REMARKS: If pain radiating into chest or down arms, or even with problems such as tennis elbow, needle the points above and below GV9 andon the inner bladder line which are tender. This is an exit point onto yangfor excess yin and yang ming energy, connecting with CV17.

ANATOMY:

FUNCTION: For energy seen to rise and fall, not rising continuously, diaphragm irritation, reflux esophagitis, asthenia, tight upper and middle back, dispersing anxiety.

ANATOMY:

FUNCTION: Dyspnea.

CLASSICAL: This tower brings to mind the taoist folk tale of the governor who could not see over the trees surrounding his residence. Thus, he built a tower which he could ascend in order to gain perspective on his kingdom and view the scenery. Hence GV 10 may be thought of as a point which gives perspective and "penetrating insight" to the heart.

REMARKS: Intersection of 3 yang meridians of both arms and legs. Excellent point for dispersing upper back, neck and shoulder tension. Functions are directed by Yang Keo.

ANATOMY:

FUNCTION: Tonsillitis, hysteria, torticollis, epistaxis, flu,easily cold,

headaches. Expels heat, activates Lu, resolves phlegm, sedates excess Yang in the head, convulsions, expels wind, reglates blood, increases health and strength.

NEEDLING METHOD: Perpendicularly down to the dura. Have someonestabilize neck while you're doing this point is preferable.

REMARKS: Many vessels go from this point to the speech centers of the brain. It's an intersection point with Yang Oe.

ANATOMY:

FUNCTION: Excess head Yang, headache, stiff neck.

REMARKS: Intersection of all yang energy, Jue Yin, and ancestral energy. Brings blood to the brain. Can be helpful in fibromyalgia and sleep problems, memory deficits.

ANATOMY:

FUNCTION: Headaches, explosion in head, agitation, anxiety, hemorrhoids, rectal and uterine prolapse, with 1 unit out from all sides for depression.

REMARKS: A tender point which generally causes tearing and moaning. Intersections with St, LI, Jenn Mo. Save this point for when needed.

ANATOMY:

FUNCTION: Needle shock, acute epilepsy, disperses acute lumbar sprain; stand, put in, turn, manipulate, and have patient stretch. Dental problems, cancer sores, hallitosis (with MH7), thirst.

Carpal Tunnel:
Stagnation of yin?? MH 5 tp TH 8 and ting point of MH 9, consider also Huan Luo channel opening MH6 to TH4. To further mobilize the yin consider MH 4 (tsri point) and HT 1 to induce yin movement along with HT 9

In pregnancy the problem is stagnation of blood, stabbing pains at night, better with movement and heat. Try MH 7.

Lumbar Pain can be due to stagnation of blood: stabbing pain, worse at night, difficulty with immobilisation, premenstrual period worse, presence of hemorrhoids common, tongue is dark purple, petechiae, circulate blood with BL40 BL17, BL53, BL32 consider also BL37
